Care Pointers

Please take note of the following when cleaning silk:
- Do not use bleach
- Avoid direct and strong sun light
- Do not use water for ironing
- Do not spray silk with perfume or deodorant
- Do not use water to remove stains
- Do not wring out silk
- Always iron silk from the back side only
Silk can not only be cleaned chemically, you can also handwash your silk products.
Here is a short instruction to handwash silk:
- Use special silk shampoo or mild soap.
- Soak both sides of the silk for about 3-5 minutes in hand-hot water. (Wash dark or printed silk only for a short while in a COLD hand bath, do not soak!)
- In this time move the fabric slightly back and forth. (Do not wring out!). As soon as the silk is wet be more cautious, the fabric is more delicate in this condition.
- After max. 5 minutes remove the silk and rinse the fabric with cold water and an added tea spoon of wine vinegar to completely remove the soap residues
- Afterwards roll the silk into a dry towel to remove the remaining liquid.
(For dark or printed silk please use several layers of towel.)
- Then roll it out flat and slightly pull the corners straight.
- Always iron silk from the "wrong" side only. Also the silk should still be slightly damp for ironing. Take care with the settings of your electric iron. Silk must not be ironed too hot!
